Oh hay it's a rant. Yeah. It's been busy. Or I've been lazy. Adjusting to college life, I guess. These'll become more regular in the coming weeks. I hope.

I guess I got two comics to comment on, given I said nothing about last week's comic. I assume everyone knows what last week's comic was about, so I won't bore you with an explanation. I do think the art was rather horrible. Same this week. Terrible artwork, but at least the backgrounds (all two of them) are kind of ok. I'll strive to try and deliver better artwork in future comics. I promise. Really. (gotta work on fabric folds...)

There's a new podcast out today. It's on sexy bittorrent now, so if you don't want to have sex with our server, you can use the bt link. Truth be told, I only put it on bittorrent so I could get more traffic to the site. Yes, I am that shameless.

In the first three or so weeks of my new life in Boston, I've had three somewhat interesting experiences that have to do with anime. Well, they're really not interesting at all, but I feel like talking about them. Two of them are cool and one is gay as hell. First one: trains in the Boston subway system often stop at random intervals (I assume to let the train before it go on ahead.) At one of these stops, I noticed a light in the tunnel covered in graffiti. Among the mess I saw written vertically, in large black letters, "AKIRA." One of these days I'll take a picture. Second one: Once again, on the train, I saw a Japanese guy wearing a Lupin III shirt. I wanted to go up to him and say, "HEY DOOD NICE SHIRTZZZ" but I decided not to. The last thing he needs is some huge hairy American yelling in his face. And the third: I was looking around the local anime shop (got in right as it opened.) Things were quiet and peaceful. Then I heard rumbling. People were running up the escalator, screaming and yelling. I prayed to great god that they wouldn't come in here, but this group reeked of American anime fan. My 6th sense told me. Sure enough, all 20 of them (the fat girls count as two people) barged in. I remember one of them had a dumb mohawk and another was wearing a gay Invader Zim shirt. They came in saying things like "O M G" (I'm serious) and "I'LL DIE IF THEY HAVE FRUITS BASKET." One of them even spoiled Death Note for me. Yeah. Right as the anime is about to air. Thanks stupid fat girl A. I hope you die in a fire.

A bunch of anime just ended all at once this past week. I'll try and shoot through them all now. I'll go from the least satisfying ending to most satisfying ending.
Blood+: Given the show ran out of steam near the middle, I didn't expect much out of this ending. Most of the fun stuff happened in the episode before, so our finale was essentially a wrap up. It was happy, but seemed a little forced and weak. Production IG can't do 50 episodes. At least not yet.
Zero no Tsukaima: I think this show would have benefited greatly from one more episode. This ending was very rushed, but it wasn't bad at all. I'm hoping for a second season, so the romance between Saito and Louise will develop. Siesta made the show for me in the end, though. She was so deredere <3
Coyote Ragtime Show: I thought the ending was pretty good for this one, but it would have been more powerful if the show's middle section didn't drag so much. This really should have been 8 or 10 episodes. Also, Malchiano was kind of a cardboard villain.
Hachimitsu to Clover II: Wow, damn. That was pretty awesome. Very moving scene at the end. I can really relate to Takemoto. It's a shame that his stand-in seiyuu kind of took me out of the experience. I hope they re-dub it for the DVD release.
Top wo Nerae 2!: This was one of the most amazing endings I've seen in a while. It was a good old Gainax over-the-top finish, complete with the moving of an entire PLANET at LIGHT SPEED (well sublight speed.) A lot of giant beings LARGER THAN EARTH beating each other up and throw backs to the original Top! are abound in the second half. The ending scene ties this sequel in perfectly with the original. I damn near cried at the scenes between Lark and Nono. I love it.

The NHK anime always manages to surprise me. Often times I think it does justice to the original work, with a few exceptions. But, I think at episode 13 it actually managed to one-up the comic. I was somewhat disappointed with how they handled episode 12. I felt most of the jokes were lost, and it was dragged out too much; losing the tension present in the manga chapter. I did appreciate it a bit more subbed though, to the point where I enjoyed the changes, just a bit. I think they cut down on the comedy in order to set the tone for episode 13, which was truly wonderful. The direction was solid, animation was farily good and the seiyuu went all out. The writers seemed to want to make the suicide far more dramatic, with them all jumping off a cliff. The tension right before the jump was really good, I thought. Made up for the tension that was lost in episode 12. The intervention by Hitomi's fiance, Yamazaki and Misaki was good. I felt it showed that they cared for Satou more, so much so that they'd race out to a deserted island to save him. Satou's short taste of death almost moved me to tears. That was one moment where I could really feel for him. The episode ended in tears, which was perfect.

Well, I've used up all my writing juices for today (I'm sure you can tell as the quality has been dwindling rapidly!) I'll try and get a new comic up next week.

whoa people are actually downloading that podcast...

Damn. I've been busy. But before I go into my rant I have a bone to pick with a certain Randall. Randall: Let me tell you why you are still alive. When you where so nice to IM Wildarmsheero with this: "Heeeey, do Dave and Frank have sex? Is Frank on top?" I almost went all CIA on your ass and tried to kill you. Well, first off Wildarms likes you, so, you have that going for you and secondly your name is Randall. Now, I could go on and on about how badly your posts on your website are written and how the exclamation point is not how you end every sentence. I mean, come on dude, this symbol: "!" tends to be used when someone is exclaiming something, for example:

Randall is a hopeless prick who can't write a good news post to save his life!

Anyway, to conclude: Asking whether a man and a man have sex isn't just a dumbass question, it's none of your business where I stick my business.

Now on to more unhappy matters. Mistakes of Youth Porn. Whoever requested this should die. It's that simple. There is no need for this. I mean hell, we, I mean, Wildarms, barely gets comics out on time. I don't think we need a blow-job picture of Tina and a penis. For the one man who gets off to this, congratulations. You just got off to Mistakes of Youth porn, I hope it feels good. Now go put that semen in a jar. I hear it tastes good on toast.

Now on to Happy News. The podcast. Not bad, it's a start, you never know, I'm always willing to try news things at Mistakes of Youth. Anyway, I'm just really angry.

/Dave.
