Wow, this comic actually isn't a disaster. Well, it'll look like one in a day. Let me enjoy this moment. The lineart for this comic is good. I probably spent extra time on it just to spite Soul Link's awful drawings. The last panel is a little off, but that's always the case now isn't it? So, I turned 18. Nothing special, really. I did get cool stuff. Some DVDs (Kamichu, Seed Destiny, IGPX, Girls Bravo), some more Cromartie and GTO manga, some Gundam posters, a Hisashi Hirai artbook-- good stuff. Oh yeah, "Chibi Vampire". God, I want to kill TokyoPop. I'm sad at Bandai's Seed Destiny release. I thought they knew better, but I guess they didn't. They went and replaced the Japanese credits with English credits. Now, I don't mind too much if they're formated well; but they wrote them in the stupid bold verdana font that makes them big and distracting. At least they're timed well, more than I can say for how Media Blasters handled the Genshiken opening. For the ending sequence, they had the same awfully formated text scroll up fast; obstructing most of the image. The DVD also has no extras at all. What crap. I haven't actually watched past episode one on the DVD, so I can't comment on translation or anything. I suspect they'd be dubtitles, though. GTO volume 5 has the worse typesetting in the history of the world. I could do a better job, for free. Fuck you TokyoPop. (Yeah, I know it came out eons ago, but I just got it now.) I'm starting to like Geneon a lot. All of their releases are so nice and polished (albeit, I only own about 4). It's just good to see that some companies are putting in effort to make their DVDs look nice. It's just a shame that their (and many other companies') translations leave honorifics out. I mean, "The God Yurie" is just awkward sounding, while "Yurie-sama" sounds perfectly natural (hell, I'd prefer something like "Lord Yurie" even). Also, things like -kun, -chan, etc. help imply the kinds of relationships between the characters. When these are dropped, something is lost. Well, not like it makes any difference to me, I'm not watching the dub and I listen to the Japanese (sometimes I just don't read the subtitles-- yeah, I'm that good. ::rolls eyes::) On the other end of the spectrum, fansubs annoy me when they leave stuff untranslated. Honestly, just fucking translate "Itadakimasu" as "let's eat" or something and don't put a stupid note up top saying, "ITADAKIMASU IS WUT THEM JAPANS SAY WHEN ITS TYM TO EET GRUB". Ugh, I seem to have gone away from what I meant to talk about. I was going to talk about Geneon's Kamichu release. It comes in an awesome box (see Bandai, it's possible to make a box that's not total shit!), with a nice wallscroll and a bunch of nice pencil boards. The DVD is authored beautifully, with a nice professional polish. The menu screens are nice; they're easy to navigate and they load quickly. There's not much in the way of extras; just a picture gallery with occasional staff comments and some Geneon previews. Most of the extras are in print anyway, so this isn't much of a problem. To be honest, the only reason I'm buying this series is to finish it, as the subbers only really got up to episode 5. I still feel that the first 2 episodes are slow, but I like episodes 3 and 4 a lot. 4 is rather hilarious, actually. I think Matsuri is really hot. I want all kinds of naked pics of her, now. Yurie is cute, of course, but I already got enough pics of her. Matsue is cute in her own way, but I prefer the other two. I don't think I have to tell you all how awesome Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu episode 10 was. I mean, you all should seen it. In your dreams. It is that awesome. Too bad they seem to be catering to the guro crowd, though. Anyway, I'm burned out. That's all. god i love girls bravo |
So, nothing happened on 06/06/06 except for a clever marketing ploy by the makers of the Omen. Which I failed to see. It was sold out everywhere on 666. Oh, well I'll catch it on DVD. What I really want to see is 'Cars' because it's Pixar...and Pixar rocks. End of Discussion.
I guess I could go into detail about Wildarms' birthday party. So, it's me, GS, Wildarms, and two other friends hanging out in Wildarms' basement till six o'clock in the morning (the party started at 'noon). During this I played 3 hours of Guitar Hero, 1 hour of Capcom vs. SNK 2, and around 15 minutes of streetfighter. We also watched countless amounts of anime, while using such phrases as 'On the head.' every 10 minutes.
It's the ultimate geekout party.
Prom is actually today. I should really be getting ready. I need to leave in like an hour. But I'm a man and therefore all I need to do is throw on some suit, spray myself with smell good spray and I'm ready to go.
Comic. Hmmmm. Good comic I approve.
As for Ergo Proxy. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SERIES DOING?! I just don't seem to be able to comprehend what it's doing anymore. I mean episode 10 was well done. The biggest plot twist in that was finding out Daedalus was a man. That was shocking. Honestly though, the way this series is going right now is down-hill and that's about it. Though, I can see it getting better.
As for Haruhi. That show just keeps getting better and better. Honestly every time I see that name come under my bittorent RSS feed I stop whatever I am doing and download it. Then I proceed to watch. In awe of it's perfection.
Seeing Mikuru as an adult was hot.
Anyway that's all I have to say for now. I should really be taking a shower.
- Haruhi is hotter.
