[Bouken Desho Desho]

On Wednesday I'll be leaving to go to Boston for three days; college orientation and all that. I won't have time to make a comic, so expect the next a comic at least a week from now. I'm also working on some Ohno fanart that has taken longer that I thought it would...

---------------

Wow, this comic doesn't suck that much either. The joke had a bit of re-working done to it; the comic was supposed to end with "that's all in your head" but CM thought that was unfunny, so he changed it and I agreed with him. However, looking back at that change today, it didn't really make much sense (he wanted to suggest that Rets was killing the fansubbers, but in the previous panel Rets admits that he doesn't know where they are.) I changed it to what it is now, so it has the same idea but still fits. Of course, the comic could be shitty all together. I dunno. I'll do better next week.

Oh, btw, for anyone that didn't know: for emails regarding the site, send them to wildarmsheero (at) gmail.com. The old address won't work anymore. If you've sent any to the old address, re-write them and send 'em to this new one!

For anyone going to Otakorn 2006, be sure to look out for us. We're going to have table yet again, and hopfully I'll draw up enough art to sell before then. Too bad most of my fanart is of stuff that's not available domestically (thus, won't sell). Guess I have to draw some gay'd out pics of Sasuke if I want to make a profit.

I've read the first 4 volumes of NHK ni Youkoso! (or Welcome to the NHK, if you like.) I like the general tone of darkness and grim reality that the artist and writer establish along with how screwed up each character is. The problem is that I find it difficult to connect with most of the characters (well, I can almost understand Yamazaki...) but I guess that's a good thing, considering how messed up they all are. The brand of humour employed in this comic is very much on my wavelength, complete with totally un-subtle references. So far, the best joke has the be the most moe eroge herione.

While watching my Seed Destiny DVD, I realized something: I like the series better once Kira and the rest of the old crew make their appearence. Strangly enough, that's when a lot of people thought the show jumped the shark. Oh well, I guess I'm wierd like that.

I don't get this shit. How can Wikipedia let these lies stay while my valuable contribution was deleted within an hour. "Non-notable internet forum spat" my foot. Go eat a dick, Adashiel. Almost all OEL is shit and I really don't understand how this fucking crap gets so much praise. I mean, look at Aoi House, for instance. No real anime fan gets excited over a fucking marathon of a dubbed and edited shounen show on the fucking Cartoon Network. No one with taste, anyway. Genshiken this is not. I will admit the art is rather polished, but poor insertion of fucking anime cliches and piss-poor writing kill the work (Hint: "manga" isn't just arranging a bunch of stereotypes and cliches into some poorly constructed narrative.) You know, if mister Aoi House wants to make a comic for anime fans, he should write about currently running programs, lolikon, guro, current otaku trends, the nature of moe, h-games and such. Same goes for Svetlana and her Dramashit comic. What really gets me is that companies are trying to pass this hogshit off as proper "manga" and dumb little kids are buying it. I dont try to pass my shit off as manga, and I never will. My skill will never measure up to that of a professional Japanerse artist, and I am well aware of this. The problem is the artists (or, the companies) are not and try to pass this shit off as The Real Deal. This isn't to say that Japanese manga doesn't have a good number of dumb titles, but I can find even a chapter of Naruto more fufilling than some OEL crap.

Following on from that rant, I pose to you readers (yes, all five of-- god this joke is lame) a question: do I look as if I'm trying to copy "manga" in the way that comics like Aoi House and Dramacon do? I've asked this before, but didn't get much of a response. If you have any opinions on this, please tell me.

I find I like the story based episodes of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu better than the "filler" ones. While episode 11 was "fun", it wasn't more than that, "fun". I guess there is the spot of character development on Yuki's side, but I don't really care for characters like her (she did managed to earn some love from me in episode 10, though). But, the show's had a pretty good track record with me, so I'll let this one slide. We need more Mikuru!

Top Wo Nerae 2! is only getting better. I hope Lunar subs that final episode once Gainax releases it.

I haven't been feeling good today, so I'll end with that.

Not on the face.
Not in the mouth.
On the head.

That's right. That's our slang term for today: On the Head.

Now on to more important matters, such as Ergo Proxy. Looks like Episode 12 brought in some much needed character development. And I got yelled at by Wildarms for not putting a spoiler warning in my rants so here it is:

Ok. So we know that Vincent is a proxy. Big whoop. Congrats. For the sake of it I could care less. But then the writers decided to have a revelation and bring in the whole concept that he can actually be killed. That's nice because up till now have convinced me that he's all powerful. Then let's place the only weapon in the hands of the girl he loves and let him tell her that he loves her. So, we have indecision, nice. We have conflict, nice. I'm back on the show. I really do think that this show is going somewhere after todays episode.

The other anime I have been watching is of course the great Haruhi. I, unlike Wildarms enjoyed this episode immensely. It was the creators doing what they do best, watching the SOS Brigade do stupid crap for no reason. Not only that but seeing them in a kind of Star Wars/Star Trek/Battlestar situation was great. It also gave a much needed character development to Yuki. But to finalize my favorite moment had to be when they would cut from the imagined battle to the actual situation on the computer and have the same music. Though one was a full orchestra and the other 8 bit. That part just made my day.

Anyway, that's all I have to say. I hate my english teacher.
